Tom Day (Zannata Galloo) broke the course record with 19:58, on his way to winning the Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers club 10 on the P311 in Hampshire. The B3347 Christchurch road chases the River Avon down to the turn at the Woolpack Inn and the rough road surface has earned it the nickname “the Rumble Strip”. Day made it more like a drag strip taking 13 seconds off the old mark, an impressive 20:11 set by Ken Buckley (Nuun Sigma Sport London RT) on Boxing Day 2018. It would have been faster had Day not been delayed by a tractor on the course, a “long 19” in training last week, proof if any were needed of the just-turned eighteen-year old’s form. A “19” on the P311 does not make it a fast course but it does make Tom Day fast! Tom Stocker took the honours in the club event with 22:11, a 10 second improvement on last week, on a warm sunny evening that saw 30 riders sign on, all observing CTT COVID-19 guidelines of course. Same again next week with the Jubilee holding their club 10-mile championship.
