New Forest CC Club 10, 19/07/16, Report/Results

New Forest CC held round eight of the 10 series on the P164, Boltons Bench course. The wind conditions and perhaps the unseasonal summer temperatures kept the field down to just 28 riders. A stiff sultry South Easterly checked the participants progress on the way out on the course until Leygreen Farm was approached. Antony Green battered his way through the thick air and reached the intermediate check point with a slender 10 second advantage over Sacha Ring. A battle royale was ensuing for the remaining podium place as Nick Buck, Graham Lenton and Stuart Peckham hit the halfway point with barely a second between them. Green held onto his advantage and made best use of the tail wind up to the finish past Ferny Rise to record a hugely impressive time of 23:43. Sacha was in no danger of losing second position in 24:14. Nick Buck had to dig deep to hold of Stuart and Graham, in times of 25:05, 25:09 and 25:10 respectively. Former club champion commented after the race that it was like riding into a wall of heat as temperatures hit 80 degrees.
Lyndon Thompson (26:10) maintained his dominance of division two, with a comprehensive win over the rapidly improving Peter Trunwit (27:44) , who in turn relegated Andy Townsend (27:47) into third place with a late push by a mere three seconds.
