Bournemouth CycleWorks Moreton Village Series, Calvert Just Too Fast!

Charley Calvert (Bournemouth Arrow) stormed to victory in the opening round of the Moreton Village series, the track star stealing the race from under the noses of Primera TeamJobs. Calvert’s devastating acceleration was the highlight on a gloomy, wet evening in deepest Dorset.
The fifteen year old, British Cycling apprentice scheme rider’s burst of speed left the rest floundering in the mucky conditions. A full field of 60 started in a deluge that soaked all and left the roads muddy and awash.
Lewis Keightley (Bournemouth Jubilee Wh) & Jason Gault (Primera Teamjobs) drove the scratch group around the 3 mile open road circuit, reeling in the slower groups with two full laps remaining.
Despite their numbers the Primera boys could not control the front of the race and the flat roads offer little chance of an escape. Ed Hatfield opened up the sprint early but was already fading when Calvert came passed, timing his sprint to perfection. Calvert started in the blue group, his legs may have been fresher but he is very quick, he was going to win wherever he started.
