Moreton Race Series, Wins for Gilham & Horton as Primera Make Hay!

James Horton & Ellie Gilham (Primera-sport.com) made it a clean sweep for the shop-backed squad, winning both the men’s & women’s races on a sun drenched evening in Dorset. Gilham and teammate Harriet Dodd simply had too much class, seemingly toying with the 20 strong field before sharing the spoils. The Primera-pair controlled the 40 minute + 1 lap race from the front; making or covering the moves, Laura Raynor (Westbury Wheelers) worked hard to escape with Gilham at the bell but it was short lived on the flat circuit, a worked-over third place, her consolation prize. Organiser Richard Lang, encouraged by the support, has added two further women's races, extending the series till July 9th. Ten minutes later both Gilham & Dodd were mixing it up in the open event, after all racing is better than training at this time of the year! Things got even better for Primera in the open race with James Horton sprinting clear of Pete Warner (Ridebike.co.uk), it was Warners third second place of the series, get his timing right and the win will come! Horton was warming up for Sunday’s MTB XC Championships in Scotland and when Steve Dring pulled back Josh Hooper (Primera-Sport.com) on the final lap the off-roader showed his form with a determined dash for the line. The handicapped format saw the race all together with three laps of the rural village circuit to go, Hooper got his gap but the sprint was inevitable!
