World Masters Gold: Storeys Reinvention!

Former Bournemouth Jubilee Wheeler, Barney Storey, won the 35-39, 3KM Individual Pursuit at the World Masters track championships in Manchester. Better known as a sprinter and Paralympic tandem pilot, Storey proved he has staying power as well, as he reinvents himself after leaving the Paralympic programme earlier this year. Speaking after wife Sarah had presented him with his first solo rainbow jersey Barney said
“It’s a really satisfying result to win the pursuit. It’s a new challenge, swapping from sprint to endurance events and one I am enjoying. It will take another year before the changes take the biggest effect. But the early signs are encouraging and my ability to back up in tough conditions proves I am responding well to the changes. Monday (14th) is a very exciting day as we are announcing a new elite womens cycling team. We are delighted with the riders we have been able to select and are fortunate to be backed by the UKs biggest cycling equipment distributor, Exciting times!"
Barney is team manager for the Madison Boot out Breast Cancer Team, formally launched on Monday 14th October.
