Stephenson Toughs it out at Tour!

Will Stephenson (Rapha Condor JLT), the youngest rider in the race, finished in 67th position on stage 2 @ 05:43 and is currently 68th on general classification @7:27. Will told “Local Riders, Local Races” about his first two days in the Tour of Britain, “Yeah it was tough, pace was slow at first so I was on the bike for a long time, it sped up with 45km to go but by then we had already done 5 hours. It was strung out and I was digging deep when I was caught behind a big crash in the last 10km which opened up too many gaps to close. Today on stage 2 it poured all day, torrential rain and gale force winds as well. It was horrific, freezing cold and shivering all day. Honister pass was really steep and a long hard grind. I just popped on a steep climb at 10km to go. Rode in easy to the finish, very cold, wet and tired as not in the running for any GC”

Stage Three sees The Tour of Britain celebrate its tenth anniversary with a ten mile individual time trial starting and finishing in Knowsley Safari Park. The first rider is due off at 12:01 with live television coverage will be shown on ITV4 and British Eurosport from 12:30, with highlights on ITV4 at 19:00.
