New Forest News!

Lucky 13
DESPITE winning the final time trial in New Forest Cycling Club’s championship series, the club’s Ben Boardman could not unseat Stuart Peckham from top spot. Bob Jollife reports........
Peckham finished in second place in the last event with a time of 59-03, 21 seconds short of Boardman’s flying 58-42 for the two laps of the Kingston-Sopley-Bransgore circuit.
But Peckham’s tally of championship points amounted to a lucky 13. His baker’s dozen being one better than the regular dozen scored by Boardman during the season.
Peckham’s ride outshone that of GA Cycles’ Gary Allan who finished the 25 in third overall with 59-19, though New Forest’s James Bannister collected the single championship point on offer for third club rider with 1-01-16.
Others (NFCC unless stated): Andrew Hanley 1-03-17, Sacha Ring 1-03-22, Rob Ellis (VC St Raphael) 1-04-47, Hugh Roper 1-07-06, Richard Rajski 1-08-00, Neil Stevenson 1-08-01, Keith Bradfield 1-08-58, Phil Underwood 1-09-25, Phil Harris 1-09-31, Peter Weaver 1-10-52, Stuart Grace (GA Cycles) 1-12-16, Antony Moyle 1-13-42.
Dighton immaculate at Poole
Poole Wheeler Gary Dighton was in pinging form winning his club’s evening 25-miler on the Upton bypass course in a cracking 50-22 and following through with a slightly slower, but equally victorious, 52-26 in the club’s open 25 four days later.
The easterly breeze on the exposed course was to blame for the slower times on Sunday morning.
VC St Raphael’s Stephen Walkling took second in the open with 53-29, Greg Parker of CC Weymouth took third with 54-41 and Walkling’s teammate Simon Berogna was fourth with 55-37.
Southampton Waterside rider Ray Claridge (GA Cycles) filled fifth place with a fine 55-40.
