A blustery day greeted the riders for New Forest CC’s 16 mile time trial on the P165. The course starts at Balmer Lawn heads out to Beaulieu, round to Lyndhurst and back towards Lyndhurst. Apart from the stiff wind which aided the participants out to Beaulieu, the conditions were ideal on a mild spring morning. NFCC new comer Paul Lockyer laid down a significant early season marker by smashing the course record to come home in a mighty 36.32, with club champion Ben Boardman unavailable, Paul took three minutes out of field to second place man Antony Green in 39.34. Andrew Hanley made up the top three recording a personal best time of 40.31 and commented, “conditions were tough out there today, you had to hold something back for the return leg and not get too carried away on the way out to Beaulieu. Paul came past me like a train and held great form as he steamed off into the distance!”
New Forest hold a 10 miler on the popular P164 course from Boltons Bench next week, the riders will no doubt be looking forward to riding on the new tarmac recently laid on North Lane near Beaulieu.
