New Forest CC Club 10,26/03/17, Report/Results

New Forest Cycle Club TWO UP 10 P614/10
Boardman and Hanley dig in to clinch win writes Andrew Hanley........
New Forest CC held their regular season 2 up event on the stunning P164 TT course, running from Boltons Bench to Leygreen Farm, Ipley Crossroads and back to Beaulieu Road Station. A wicked Easterly breeze ensured that the riders had to endure the first half of the course until they hit shelter past Pig Bush. Boardman and Hanley delivered a fine ride of 24.13 to win the 2 up event from Cliff Rowe and Will Soloman representing Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers by a mere sixteen seconds in 24:29. The pairs were neck and neck at the half way stage, but Ben Boardman and Andrew Hanley were able to stretch out a slim advantage over Ferny Rise near the end of the course. Boardman commented that the change overs were fairly slick between us but we nearly came unstuck right at the start as Andy couldn’t clip into his pedals from the off. Martin Turner and Phil Godfrey riding for Nieuw Bos CC made up the top three placings for the 2 up event in 26.15.
Paul Lockyer laid down a scintillating time in the solo event to record a remarkable 22:41. Paul had a clear advantage over the field and will look to challenge club champion, Ben Boardman in the club’s 10 Series in a couple of weeks, as the second rider home was Justin Priest in 25:44. Julian Porter completed the podium positions with a very respectable time of 26:37 on a road bike.
