Bowers may have lacked race miles but has bags of experience and was up for the fight, hitting the front from the gun and putting daylight between himself and a clearly worried Little. Behind these two, Pete Warner (Ridebike.co.uk) was clear in third place as the 100 plus field started to string out.
Little may have been worried but he never panicked, gradually riding back up to Bowers wheel, making contact on the third lap. Sensing Bowers was starting to pay for his early enterprise, Little pressed on, quickly opening a winning gap of over a minute. The purpose built, 4 km circuit at Avon Tyrrell includes, single track, wooded trails and parkland, testing both stamina and technique and is popular with the riders. As Little continued his solitary procession so Bowers continued to go backwards, eventually being caught by a more than surprised Warner. Across the finish ine Little was already thinking of the Brass Monkeys enduro in two weeks whilst a spent Bowers could talk of nothing but bacon sandwiches.
Amy- Jo Hansford (Off Camber) looked strong as she led the women home, distancing Fay Cripps (Southdown Bikes/Cask)
and Little’s teammate, Heidi Gould (Merida UK). Hansford rode away on the opening lap and was never seriously challenged.

Great photos - disappointing to see such a brief write-up of the women's race though.
