Bournemouth & Dist WCA LADIES 2-UP 10

Adel Tyson-Bloor, paced by Bryce Dyer (VC ST Raphael/Waites Contracts) won the Bournemouth & Dist WCA ladies 2-UP 10 on the P303 south of Ringwood. Better known as a track rider, Bloor struggled to remember the last time she rode an open time trial but her track skills were evident as she followed Dyers rear wheel to a comfortable win. Composite pairing, Alexander Green & Stephen Moore looked smooth but lacked the power of the Raphael team. Gary Burley had ridden his first 50 the previous week and partner Lizzy Yates benefited from the extra stamina making it a good day for Andover Wheelers. Scratch pairing Lesley Anne & Stephen Walking (VC ST Raphael/Waites contracts) failed to start on a warm but windy afternoon and talk at the open-air HQ was of dwindling numbers. This event has been running for over 30 years, it’s a bit of fun, organiser Claire Newman knows people enjoy the race but is at a loss as to the poor entry?

Sincere thanks to all officials and helpers, including timekeepers Roger (who also kindly presented the prizes), Jacky and Jacky, pushers-off Colin White and Pete Betteridge, marshals Larraine White, Clive Peskett, Ann Miller (who also made some delicious and popular flapjacks!) and Anne Wallace. Thanks to Jacky and Clive as always for their help with putting out signs etc.
Congratulations to prizewinners. If you enjoyed the event, there’s a chance to do it again at the Association’s ‘club event’ mixed 2-up on Saturday 31st August 3pm – same course and HQ – just turn up and sign-on on the day (priority to mixed 2-up teams). Guest of Honour will be Anthony McCrossan, local lad who is now a jet-setting cycling commentator and MC for events including the Giro d’Italia and London Olympics! A social ride will leave the venue at 9.30
