New Forest CC Reliability Trial
New Forest Cycling Club is offering cyclists an opportunity to get in some tough training miles around its “patch” and do others some good by staging a CHARITY RELIABILITY TRIAL on Sunday, February 17th.
While final details have yet to be decided, two scenic routes will be on offer: one of about 50 miles in 4 hours, 3 hours 30 minutes or 3 hours, and one of about 75 miles in 6 hours, 5 hours or, for the real toughies, 4 hours, all starting and finishing at East Boldre Village Hall, East Boldre near Beaulieu.
The entry fee of £5 will go towards sending UK Transplant Sport’s Great Britain & Northern Ireland team to the WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES in Durban, South Africa at the end of July.
New Forest CC veteran and kidney transplant recipient Bob Jolliffe is a member of that team and will be competing in the 60-plus age group time trial and road race. This follows qualifying with silver medals in the two disciplines (ages 50-59) in the UK Transplant Games in Kent last August.
The cost to each GB&NI team member is in excess of £2,000 when flights, insurance and hotel bills etc are taken into account. More money is required to send team medics and support staff.
In addition to contributing through the entry fee, those taking part in New Forest CC’s Charity Reliability Trial will also be able to raise sponsorship money for their own favourite good causes, or contribute extra to the Transplant Sport UK charity Here www.justgiving.com/Robert-jolliffe1 .
