New Forest 10 14/08/12

Bob Jolliffe.....WHILE there was no change at the top of Division One of New Forest Cycling Club’s annual 10-mile series there were some last minute moves in the second and third after the 10th, and final event.Ace Gary Lock already had a full house of six 15-point wins to head Division One and had no need to ride the last trial, on the Lyndhurst course on Tuesday. That left the way clear for Ben Boardman to consolidate his second place; and he did it in fine style, sharing the overall win on what was a tough night with a headwind on the long southerly leg, with GA Cycles’ visitor Simon Barnes in a time of 23-56.James Bannister increased his hold on third place by taking second in the division and sixth overall with 25-08.In Division Two Chris Grant took the final spoils and leapfrogged over Rob Brinsdon for a final total of 89 to Brinsdon’s 87. Andrew Hanley, who did not ride some of the earlier 10s, also increased his total to 82 for third.Donna Shaw was the determined winner of Division Three taking the final win in 29-31 and accumulating 83 points. She also topped the women’s table with a full house. The third division rider who lost most was Chris Mills who was off-form with a time of 31-24 and dropped to third with 76 points behind Antony Moyle who clocked 30-19 and took second in the table with 80 points.GA Cycles’ squad visitors, Ray Claridge, Gary Allen and Stuart Grace took third, fourth and ninth overall on the night with times of 23-59, 24-17 and 25-32, while Team Feat’s Marc Darcy was fifth in 24-55.James Bannister in sixth was followed by Chris Grant with 25-10, Stewart Ward (25-21), Andrew Hanley (10th in 25-36) and Stuart Peckham (12th, 25-54).Other times (NFCC unless stated): Geri Robinson 26-15, Richard Rajski 26-53, Nick Williams 26-56, Julian Sheppard (Sotonia CC) 27-19, Hugh Roper 27-29, Sam Jackson 27-35, Phil Underwood 27-36, Phil Wilks 28-03, Konnor Bracher-Walsh 28-04, Matthew Duffin (Southampton CTC) 28-22, Peter Hawker 29-52, Chris Summers (Sotonia) 30-04, Gary Fisher (Come and Try It) 30-13, Nigel Gemmell 30-49, Aleksandra Burlinson 31-07, Martin Balk 31-10, Glenn Harrison 31-43, Roger Bacon 32-07, Carolyn Weaver 34-42, Wendy Rajska (Come and Try It) 36-03.
