CC Weymouth Club Hilly 18 P451/18 31/07/12

Steve Pink writes.....I don't know whether everyone is glued to the box, watching the Olympics, they have all taken the kids on holiday or just can't face the challenge of this course but only 8 determined riders turned up to test themselves on possibly the toughest course in Dorset.

With course record holder Paddy Dunn still training himself back to fitness after injury it was left to Greg Parker and Ian Gillam to battle it out for the evenings bragging rights. Greg edged out his younger rival to take the win in 44:41, Ian's second place was none to shabby though with a 44:55 and Steve Pink taking best of the rest with 47:48. All three riders shaving minutes off of their respective previous best times despite the cool and breezy conditions.

It was a pleasure to see Dave Wood again. He is clearly making the most of his break 'down south' and we look forward to his next visit.

A mention also though for David Butt who had a rather scary moment coming down Revel's Hill (where we regularly hit speeds in excess of 50 mph) David found his odometer sensor had worked its way loose and was rattling the spokes, David managed to rip it off without doing a 'Christian Sorenson' and avoided either getting his fingers caught or having a what could have been a very nasty spill (David if you want to sound like a motorbike just stick to the old lollypops in future!)

Next week is the second of our 10 mile 2-UP races on the P451. Hopefully regular top pairing Gary Dighton and Terry Icke will be there to set the mark as usual!
