BMX:Joyce Boys Head for Cheddar!
Steve Joyce writes....Kobi & Ryder both went into the final weekend (Rounds 10 & 11 at Peterborough) with a shot at winning the 2012 British series, Unfortunately during round 10 on Saturday, both boys were off the pace, as lots of national rankings were being fought over, the racing was flat out right from the Moto’s.
Ryder, racing in the boys 6+under class, Missed the cut in the semi-final and ended up in the B final, despite winning the B final this saw Ryder Secure his position in 3rd for the series, and whatever the outcome of round 11 on the Sunday he could not improve on or loose 3rd. Ryder managed to hit a bit more form on the Sunday and managed to dominate the qualifying Moto’s, easing into the final, he took 3rd place for the day, and was delighted to make his 6th Podium appearance for the national series.
Kobi, racing the boys 10s class, was desperate to defend his number 1 plate from 2011, the racing was extra tough as many positions/rankings in the overall standings were being fought for….it was going to be a tough order as Kobi was lying in 2nd overall, but realistically with the best 7 of 11 rounds counting Kobi was in 3rd. Kobi Managed a good 5th Position on both days, which unfortunately was not enough to retain his title as other results did not go his way. Kobi, like his brother finished in 3rd for the series. Despite being disappointed, Kobi can take pride in the achievement in what is one of the hardest age groups on the circuit.
Both very credible results in what’s been a long national season, Ryder is especially delighted to make the podium, after missing rounds due to a zipper injury earlier in the year…..!! The boys are now looking forward to racing the British Champs in Cheddar in a few weeks’ time.
