VTTA (Wessex ) Grand Prix des Gentlemen 2-up 25
Terry Icke & Gary Dighton (Poole Wheelers) were worthy winners of the VTTA (Wessex) Grand Prix Des Gentlemen 2-up 25. This end of season affair pairs veterans with younger teammates and is always a fierce contest. Icke & Dighton have been there or thereabouts all season without taking the top spot and both had earn’t the win. The P435 course between Bere Regis and Wareham provided a good test and the nagging breeze only got stronger. The Poole Wheelers duo lead all the way to clock 54.46, composite pairing, Paul Jones (BJW) & Tim Wallis (Red Kite Cycles) provided the challenge but ultimately came up short with 54.57.
John Sibley & Martin Edwards (Utag Yamaha.com) took third spot with 56.23).
The smile on Gary Dighton’s face back at the HQ said it all. Despite a Palmares that includes the Olympics, BBAR Champion and comp record at 25, “A Win is a Win” and it was Dighton’s first victory since the Post Office Championships back in 1998!
