Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers 10
Paul Jones (left) of the promoting club won a cold and wet race on the Upton Course at Lytchett Matravers. In worsening conditions, some riders chose not to start and a few chose not to get out of bed. Pre race favourite, elite triathlete, James Gilfillan (TEAM FEAT) is flying out to the States on Tuesday for the Race across America (RAAM) and decided not to risk a fall in the wet conditions. Jones’s time of 22.09, despite finishing on a softening tyre, was too good for former BBAR, Gary Dighton (Poole Wheelers) 22.23, with Mark Savage (BJW), 23.31 over a minute down in third. Backed up by the improving Nick Spencer 23.34, the Jubilee took the team award.
First lady was Louise Burman (AC3RG) 27.03. The late Rob Jefferies had entered the event, his name did not appear on the start sheet but his start time, 21, was left vacant.
